Journalists currently working in Latin America and the Caribbean can participate in this course.

The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas is offering the four-week online course in English, “Introduction to Mobile Reporting,” which will be offered April 22 - May 19. Gary Kebbel, mobile expert and a veteran journalist, will teach the course.

Participants will learn about adopting mobile strategies; information on mobile media use; how to cover and publish breaking news from the field with stories, photos and video; how to use local information apps to learn more about a community; and how to use social media as a news reporting and discussion tool.

This class does not require advanced knowledge of mobile media reporting or discussion techniques. Participants in this course will experiment using apps and new tools, and will discuss their observations.

Students who are selected to attend this course will pay an administrative fee of US$60. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. (Austin, Texas time) April 10.
