Media conference seeks outstanding high school students [US]
Date:
High school juniors in the U.S. can attend a journalism conference in Washington, D.C.
The Washington Journalism and Media Conference (WJMC), hosted at George Mason University, welcomes high school student leaders from all over the country as National Youth Correspondents. Participants will experience an integrated approach to journalism and media and acquire “in-the-trenches” knowledge.
This year’s keynote speaker is Hoda Kotb, a co-host of NBC’s “Today.” Participants can also attend events at the National Press Club, the Newseum, USAToday Headquarters and the U.S. Capitol.
Outstanding students may be nominated based on strong academic performance and a demonstrated interest in journalism. There are also spots available for students who want to candidate themselves without a nomination. The tuition for the conference is US$1,885 and includes housing, transportation and two meals a day. Participants who successfully complete the week also receive a college credit.
