Medical science reporting contest open [US]

Journalists whose work has brought attention to advancements in medical science can apply for this award.

The Council for the Advancement of Science Writing seeks applicants for its Victor Cohn Prize for Excellence in Medical Science Reporting. The award will go to a journalist who has produced insightful, original work about the medical field that has been broadcast or published within the last five years.

Individuals including editors, colleagues and scientists may nominate candidates for the award. Individuals may nominate themselves, but should submit at least one letter of support from a knowledgeable colleague. Nominators must submit five copies of the candidate's work, all published or aired since January 2008. Books are not eligible.

The winner will receive an award of US$3,000 and a framed certificate.

The deadline for submissions is July 31.
