Photographers can enter a contest to win a US$10,000 grand prize.

National Geographic is accepting entries for its 2012 photography contest in three categories - people, places and nature.

In addition to the cash prize, the grand prize winner will receive a paid trip to National Geographic's photography seminar including airfare, hotel accommodation and a behind-the-scenes tour of the magazine's headquarters.

The first place winner from each category will receive US$2,500 and will have their photograph published in National Geographic magazine.

Digitally enhanced or manipulated images are highly discouraged. Entrants can submit an unlimited amount of photos, but the entry fee is US$15 per photo.

Entrants must be of legal age in their residing countries. The contest is void to residents of Arizona, Cuba, Iran, New Jersey, North Korea, the Province of Quebec, Sudan, Syria and Vermont.

Deadline is November 30.
