Latin American journalists covering health, the environment and science have until May 15 to apply for an Ealy scholarship, which will include participation in the Jack F. Ealy workshop on science journalism, scheduled for July 7 to 16 in California, United States.

Candidates must send three works on public health and the environment published or broadcasted in 2008, a letter of recommendation and a 500-word biography. Fluency in Spanish is required.

The workshop ― organized by the Institute of the Americas ― will consist of two main components: instructions in research areas including biodiversity, renewable energies, genetically modified food, pharmaceuticals and infectious diseases; and hands-on workshops led by science journalists on informative and compelling writing techniques for reporting complex science news.
