New York Times, United Nations offer online course in election reporting
Egyptian and Tunisian journalists can learn the basics of election reporting in a six-week online course.
The New York Times Knowledge Network and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations presents "Reporting on Elections" for journalists from Egypt or Tunisia.
Course instructor and journalism professor Paul Moses, along with four Times journalists, will teach about 100 journalists the Times' reporting techniques when covering American politics and elections.
Participants will learn how to interview candidates, analyze polling, practice ethics and use various media in reporting.
The course runs September 28-November 2, with one live session per week. Course comments will be translated in Arabic and English.
