Nominations sought for cancer reporting awards

Deadline:

4/27/09

The European School of Oncology (ESO) is accepting submissions for the Best Cancer Reporter Award, which aims to promote intelligent and critical coverage of cancer. Deadline: April 27.

The contest supports journalism that helps people understand the experience of cancer patients, raise awareness that cancer is not necessarily a death sentence and that life does not stop because of cancer.

European journalists from print or online media who have demonstrated the ability to cover cancer stories and are not writing for health professionals or for cancer publications are eligable for the award. Applicants may submit up to three stories, published in any language, between April 27, 2008 and April 27, 2009.

The winner will receive a cash prize of EU€10,000 (US$13,377) and an all expenses paid trip to attend the Award Ceremony at a key cancer conference. There will also be two runners-up prizes of €5,000 (US$6,688) each. All winning articles will be published in ESO's CancerWorld magazine.
