The Bayeux awards launched in 1994 on the 50th anniversary of the landing of the allied troops in Normandy. Bayeux was one of the first towns liberated from Nazi occupation in the D-Day invasion. The awards pay tribute to journalists who work in dangerous conditions to report important news integral to freedom and democracy.
