Brazilian print, broadcast and online journalists are invited to participate in an online course in Portuguese.

The International Center for Journalists is offering the course "Digital Tools for Effective Public Service Journalism," which will take place May 27 - June 28.

Participants will learn how to use digital tools in multimedia packages to better cover issues affecting Brazil's poor. Topics include refined online searches, map mashups, digital photos and videos, blogs and wikis.

During the course, journalists are expected to produce a proposal for a journalistic project. Up to 15 outstanding participants will receive guidance during the development of their projects.

The deadline to apply is May 10.
