Online course in tools for investigative reporting offered in Spanish

A five-week online course about using online tools for investigative reporting is being offered in Spanish.

Organized by the Digital Journalism Center at the University of Guadalajara in Mexico, it is aimed at experienced investigative journalists who work in in print or online at established or independent news organizations. Participants should have the ability to read English at an intermediate level.

The course is broken into five units: online research; feeds, social networking and social bookmarking, official documents and databases; tools for managing numbers on the web; data visualization and semantic web.

The five-week course, lead by Sandra Crucianelli will be held from Sept. 25 - Oct. 30, 2011.

The tuition fee for Mexican citizens is MXN1,000 and for international students US$80.The application deadline is Sept. 14.
