Overseas reporting fellowship offered [Germany, US]
Deadline:
U.S. and German journalists can apply for a reporting fellowship.
The McCloy Fellowships, sponsored by the American Council on Germany, give journalists the opportunity to travel to Europe or the United States and pursue stories of their own design.
U.S. fellows can travel to Germany or other EU-27 countries, as long as the project is relevant to contemporary Germany within the wider EU context. All fellows receive US$200 per day for 21 days and have the option to extend the trip by another week. Airfare is included in the program.
Fellows are chosen by a jury of distinguished journalists, including William Drozdiak, former Chief European Correspondent for the Washington Post, and Josh Friedman, a Pulitzer Prize winner for international reporting.
Print, broadcast and online journalists are eligible to apply. Knowledge of German is helpful, but not a prerequisite for U.S. applicants. German applicants must be proficient in English. At least one fellowship will be awarded to a student enrolled in a graduate journalism program.
