Journalism students in Canada can apply for a year-long journalism fellowship.

The Michelle Lang Fellowship, sponsored by Postmedia Network, gives a student the opportunity to spend six months working at Postmedia News and six months at The Calgary Herald. The fellow will report on issues of regional, national and international scope.

The fellowship will begin in early September and applicants may express a preference as to which media outlet they prefer to work with first. The salary provided for the yearlong fellowship will be CAD40,000 (US$39,100).

Applicants must be students, but do not necessarily have to be journalism majors or have previous newspaper experience.

The deadline is May 31.
