A competition awards the best African radio programs contributing to peace.

The Radio For Peacebuilding Africa Awards are sponsored by Search for Common Ground to recognize radio broadcasters. Winning programs will have helped reduce community tensions, enhance shared interests, break down listener stereotypes or provide positive role models.

There are three categories: the gender award, youth award and jury’s special award. The top three broadcasters in each category are awarded €500 (about US$700), €250 (about US$350) and €100 (about US$140), respectively.

Programs can be in any language spoken on the African continent, but must be accompanied by an English or French translation.

Programs must be at least 20 minutes and have been broadcast between January 1 and December 31, 2010.
