Journalists from Russia and Eastern Europe can participate in this contest.

Fritt Ord Foundation and ZEIT-Stiftung are accepting nominations of journalists and media from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia for the 2013 Press Prizes Eastern Europe. The goal of this competition is to draw attention to independent journalists and media and to promote independent journalism.

An independent jury will award several prizes to newspapers or online media. Newspapers are eligible for cash prizes of up to EUR€40,000 (about US$6,000), and journalists are eligible for EUR€10,000 (about US$13,000). The prizes will be awarded at the Norwegian Nobel Institute in Oslo in June 2013.

The application deadline is October 24.
