Press freedom award accepting applications [Europe]
Deadline:
Young journalists in Europe are invited to submit works of photography, video, radio and print journalism on the theme of press freedom to a contest.
It's organized by Youthmedia, a large non-profit organization which hosts an online community for young journalists across Europe.
Journalists between the ages of 18 and 30 are eligible. Entrants must be legal residents of one of the 47 member states of the Council of Europe or Belarus.
The theme is inspired by one of the most important articles of the European Convention of Human Rights – article 10 (*) which states: "without a free media and plurality of opinion, democratic societies can no longer exist."
Each participant can submit entries in up to two categories. Deadline for submissions is August 1.
Winners will be invited to Strasbourg to receive their cash prize of EU€1,000 (about $1,400) at a ceremony.
