Professional and amateur photographers can participate in this contest.

The Uganda Press Photo Award 2012 is accepting submissions in five categories: news, daily life, environment, sports and portrait. Entrants can submit up to three single-image entries in each category, plus one story entry of multiple images. Story entries contain a minimum of four and maximum of 10 images.

All images submitted must have been taken in Uganda between September 1, 2011, and August 31, 2012.

The contest is jointly sponsored by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, Victoria University, Tangerine and def.i.ni.tion.

Participants are eligible to win a Nikon D7000 DSLR camera and a scholarship to study a media, communication and journalism at Victoria University.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Kampala later in 2012. All the winning photographs will be exhibited later in 2012 at Victoria University and Makerere University Art Gallery.

The submission deadline is September 1.
