Print journalism contest open [Dominican Republic]

Print journalists in the Dominican Republic are eligible for this award.
The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and the Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) are seeking entries for the Rafael Herrera Journalism Award.
The purpose of the award is to recognize outstanding print journalism. Applicants must be Dominicans or have a minimum of five years of legal residence in the Dominican Republic. Each applicant can submit up to two entries, which must be in Spanish.
Entries must have been published between Sept. 2, 2012 and Sept. 1, 2013.
The first-place winner will receive a cash prize of DOP100,000 (US$2,406); the second-place winner will receive DOP75,000 (US$1,804); and the third-place winner will receive DOP50,000 (US$1,204).
The submission deadline is Sept. 3 at 4 p.m. The entries must be submitted to the GFDD and FUNGLODE office in New York or Santo Domingo.
