Program to trains Nigerian women on HIV/AIDS reporting

Deadline:

10/29/07

Women journalists in Nigeria can apply for training to improve their reporting on HIV and AIDS. Deadline: October 29.

The NGO Projekthope is organizing the training program, scheduled for November 1. Specifically, Projekthope aims to cultivate a core group of journalists to cover policies related to women and girls affected by HIV and AIDS.

Interested applicants should submit two writing samples published in the last year and a letter that addresses how the media can influence gender inequality and HIV and AIDS. The letter should also answer the following questions: What do you specifically hope to learn from the training? How will you incorporate the training into your daily work? What would be a major impediment to applying this training in your daily work? Finally, in the letter, pitch one story idea focusing on the impact of HIV and AIDS on women in your community.

Entries must be submitted by the close of the business day on Oct. 29. At the Projekthope office, 20 Mojidi Street, off Toyin Street, Ikeja, Lagos. For more information, contact training@nigerianhivinfo.com or visit http://www.nigeriahivinfo.com/awdf-call-for-application.php.
