Radio service seeks director [Russia]

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) is seeking a new director for its Russian service, Radio Svoboda.

The selected candidate will be responsible for content development and implementation across all platforms, editorial control of audio, text and multimedia news and current affairs content, and management of the service’s staff and budget. The director will ensure that the news, current affairs and feature programs are relevant to target audiences while adhering to the highest standards of journalistic integrity and accuracy.

Applicants should have a university degree in journalism, international relations or a related field, along with a broad knowledge of political, economic and social structures in Russia. They should also possess a general knowledge of international affairs and management experience in a news organization, including responsibility for budgeting, managing staff and resources, and organizing work schedules.

Proven ability to develop, present and implement effective and innovative solutions to complex editorial and technical challenges under tight deadlines is required.

The successful candidate will be based in Moscow, but will be required to travel regularly to Prague.
