Deadline approaching: Health journalism conference [UK]

Deadline:

6/23/11

Journalists interested in health issues can register for the "Health in the Headlines: A European Conference on Health Jjournalism" to be held in Coventry, England June 23-24.

The speakers include health journalists, researchers and policy officials from England, the U.S., Ireland, Italy, Greece and other countries.

Health systems in Europe are complex, costly, under pressure from a growing elderly population and increasingly subject to complicated "reforms" and reorganization. Health research generates a daily flow of highly technical literature, while powerful multinational drug companies spend millions on extensive public relations campaigns.

The conference is sponsored by the Association of Health Care Journalists, Coventry University, the Medical Journalists' Association and the EU EU Heart Project.

The conference registration costs are: GBP£100 (about US$160) for local participants, GBP£60 (about US$100) for registrants from other countries and GBP£30 (about US$50) for freelancers and students.
