African business journalists have until August 7 to apply for an intensive introduction course to business and financial reporting from August 24 to 28 in Maputo, Mozambique.

The course, organized by the Thomson Reuters Foundation, aims to develop journalists' expertise, sharpen their skills and deepen their understanding of economic and business issues of relevance to the continent.

Participants will take part in exercises and story writing against tight deadlines, built on simulated economic news scenarios. The course will include detailed briefings, debates, and a field-reporting trip. The best participants may be selected to attend an advanced course in London, Paris or Lisbon.

Candidates must be full-time journalists, have at least two years of experience, be fluent in Portuguese, and demonstrate a commitment to a career in journalism in their country.

The tuition fee and lodging will be covered by the Thomson Reuters Foundation and the Investment Climate Facility for Africa (ICF).
