Journalists can apply for scholarships to attend a conference on alternative newsmedia in Miami, Florida.

The Association of Alternative Newsmedia is offering scholarships to encourage the next generation of journalists and journalism managers to attend its annual convention July 11 to 13.

There are three separate scholarship programs available - diversity scholarships, next generation student grants and next generation professional grants. Journalism students who have shown interest in alternative media, sales and editorial staff for alternative newsmedia under age 35 and journalists with financial need can apply.

Scholarships vary from US$500-1,000 and free admission to the convention.
