Latin American media professionals interested in learning more about Spain and the European Union can apply for a scholarship.

The Instituto Iberoamericano para las Ciencias Sociales, sponsored by TELEFONICA S.A., is offering 20 scholarships to journalists with at least five years of professional experience who aspire to deepen their knowledge of the sociopolitical realities, economics and history of Spain and the European institutions.

The course will last six months, from February to July 2013, and will take place in Madrid. During the course, participants will attend academic sessions with distinguished professors, experts, politicians and businessmen. The course also offers the possibility to undertake a media internship in Madrid working for four or five days a week.

The scholarship covers tuition for the course, one roundtrip ticket to Madrid from Latin America, a grant of EUR€6,000 (about US$7,750) and insurance.

The deadline to apply is October 10.
