Media professionals and students in the Brazilian state of Amazonas can compete for a science journalism prize.

The prize is offered by Fapeam, a governmental foundation that aims to stimulate science and research.

Categories are newspaper, magazine, photojournalism, television/Web television, radio/Web radio and Internet. The prize total is BRL$38,200 (about US$20,000).

Materials must have been published or broadcast in 2012. The deadline to apply is February 8.
