Science journalism contest open [US]

Science journalists writing for media outlets based in the United States are eligible for this award.
The AAAS Kavli Science Journalism Awards, organized by the Kavli Foundation, recognize outstanding reporting for a general audience and honor individuals for coverage of the sciences, engineering and mathematics.
Reporters working for U.S.-based media outlets can send submissions in the following categories: large newspaper, small newspaper, magazine, TV (spot news/feature reporting), TV (in-depth reporting), radio and online.
Each category winner will receive US$3,000, to be presented at the AAAS Annual Meeting in Chicago in February 2014. AAAS will cover travel and lodging expenses for one winner in each category.
Deadline for submissions is Aug. 1.
