Science writing fellowships open [US]

Professional journalists and students in the United States who have been accepted for enrollment in graduate-level science writing programs can apply for these fellowships.
The Council for the Advancement of Science Writing is seeking applicants for its Taylor/Blakeslee University Fellowships. The program will award US$5,000 to graduate students interested in writing about science, medicine, health, technology or the environment for the general public via the mass media.
Fellows may attend school either full-time or part-time.
Applicants should submit three sets of the following items, collated and stapled: a completed application; resume; writing samples; statement stating career goals (not to exceed 500 words; description of science-writing program in which the applicant is enrolled and a list of courses to be pursued; and a letter of recommendation from a teacher or someone who knows the applicant.
The deadline is July 1.
