Journalism professionals and students are invited to a free event in São Paulo.

The seminar "O Crime a Notícia" (The Crime and the News), will be held 9 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. April 25.

The program will include discussions and workshops on the influence of the press in criminal proceedings; court secrecy and the right of access to information; the right to a defense; and ethical standards for the news coverage of criminal cases.

The event is organized by Brazil's Institute of Defense of the Right of Defense and the Brazilian Institute of Criminal Sciences, along with Abraji, with the support of the Law School at the Getulio Vargas Foundation.

Registration is free, but spots are limited.
