Seminar series to focus on investigating environmental crime
The Inter American Press Association (IAPA) is inviting journalists to a series of seminars on environmental news coverage to be held in different countries in Latin America. Registration is ongoing.
Dates and locations are as follows: January 25 and 26, 2010 in San Salvador, El Salvador; January 28 and 29, 2010 in Managua, Nicaragua; February 22 and 23, 2010 in San José, Costa Rica; February 25 and 26, 2010 in Hermosillo, México; March 8 and 9, 2010 in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
The goal of the series is to train journalists in topics such as: the legal framework for environmental issues; fighting environmental crime; emerging trends in environmental crime in the region; news investigation of environmental crime; major themes in environmental journalism; key concepts and processes to understand climate change; and the impact of human activity on the environment.
Registration is free. Participants must pay for their own transportation and lodging. At the end of the course, participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
