Communication professionals and policymakers are invited to the event March 6 to 8 in Brasilia.

The seminar "Children and Communication - Rights, Democracy and Development," organized by Brazil'sNews Agency for Children’s Rights, aims to foster the public debate on the strategic role of communication and information tools in the process of social transformation, particularly in developing nations.

The program will feature plenary sessions and working groups with experts from international organizations such as: the Communication Initiative; Global Forum for Media Development; World Bank; United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child; Consejo Nacional de Televisión (Chile); Consejo Asesor de Medios Audiovisuales e Infancia (Argentina); Fundación Nuevo Periodismo Iberoamericano; Media Monitoring Project; Fundación Yupana; BBC World Service Trust; The Guardian; and more.

Topics range from corporate social responsibility practices in the media field and the impact evaluation methodologies for media and communication for development initiatives, to the potential for social inclusion offered by digital convergence. Simultaneous interpretation in Portuguese, Spanish and English will be provided for most of the activities.

Participants will be selected based on the degree of their involvement with the seminar's theme. The organizers will also take into account the seat distribution by Brazilian region and Latin American countries.
