Mohamed Amin, who died during an aircraft hijacking incident in 1996, was a well-known and widely admired photojournalist. Last year News World launched a major international award for an outstanding contribution to broadcast news in his memory. In its inaugural year, the award went to BBC's Africa news producer, Martin Turner, for his determination to smuggle footage out of war-torn Kinshasa despite having his equipment confiscated, being held by soldiers and constantly threatened with death.
