Female college students interested in sports media can apply for a paid summer internship.

The Association for Women in Sports Media (AWSM) seeks to award at least a dozen women to receive internships in the United States.

Top applicants in four categories - public relations, broadcast, writing and copy editing - will each receive a US$1,000 scholarship and a paid trip to the 2011 AWSM convention.

All other students chosen for an internship will receive US$500. Applicants must be full-time female students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.

Former internships were with ESPN, Sports Illustrated, MLB.com and other U.S. dailies known for sports coverage.
