Structured Query Language class for journalists offered [London]

Journalists interested in improving their research skills can sign up for a two-day course in London.

Organized by the Centre for Investigative Journalism summer school, the course on Structured Query Language (SQL) for Journalists will teach how to turn the stores of online data into stories.

The course will show participants why SQL is a reporter's ally and nothing to be scared of. At the end of the two days, students will be equipped with the tools to manage, make sense of and understand data.

No previous computer-assisted reporting or programming experience is required. And all platforms offer a SQL database manager, so whether you use a Windows-based PC, an Apple Mac or an open -source Linux computer.

The course will be held at the Reuters Room at the Cass Business School in London on July 17-18.
