Teen journalism competition accepting entries [Worldwide]

Deadline:

3/8/11

Teen journalists can submit articles to a competition.

The Youth Journalism Contest, sponsored by Youth Journalism International, spotlights exceptional journalism done by students across the globe. By calling attention to the best work in English, the organization hopes to further its mission of promoting a free youth press.

Journalists age 19 or under from any country who are not working professionally are eligible to apply. Entries must have been published between January 1, 2010 and February 1, 2011 in English, but not necessarily in a student publication. There are over two-dozen categories available, ranging from music reviews to cartoons.

Winners from last year's edition include Eugenia Durante, an Italian student who wrote a commentary on the novel, "To Kill a Mockingbird," and Caroline Nelissen of the Netherlands, who wrote a piece examining the Dutch Christmas tradition of "Black Pete."
