Thomson Reuters offers fellowships for financial journalism course [Africa]

Journalists interested in improving business reporting skills can apply to attend a course in Kampala, Uganda.
Organized by Thomson Reuters, it will be held from September 26 - 30, 2011. This course is designed to help journalists in East Africa to strengthen their reporting on financial and economic topics by developing their understanding and skills. “Learning by doing” is a core part of the program, which includes practical exercises and live reporting.
For this Thomson Reuters Foundation course, applicants must be business journalists in Eastern Africa and currently working as a journalists or regular contributors to print, broadcast or online media organizations.
They must be able to demonstrate a commitment to a career in journalism in their country must have at least two years’ professional experience and have a good level in spoken and written English.
Thomson Reuters Foundation offers bursaries for journalists from the developing world/countries in political transition working for organizations with no resources for training. Bursaries include economy class travel expenses, transfers and accommodation.
