Photographers, print and video journalists, aspiring filmmakers, independent filmmakers and storytellers from Guatemala can participate in this workshop.

TrustMedia, a Thomson Reuters Foundation Service, offers a course on "backpack journalism"--the craft of using a hand-held digital camera to tell visual stories. The workshop will take place May 20 - 24 in Guatemala City.

The workshop cover the full range storytelling, including the emergence of story ideas, the recording and use of sound, script-writing, narration and editing.

Participants will learn how to capture images with strong and clean sound; recognize and cultivate the dramatic turns of the stories; conduct in-depth interviews; write powerful stories; and edit for maximum impact.

The workshop is free and open only to participants from Guatemala.
