Thomson Reuters is seeking a a veteran reporter with wide experience covering the White House, the Congress and federal agencies to serve in a new position writing about major domestic policy issues that intersect with various branches of government.

The reporter should have a proven track record in both daily journalism and enterprise reporting, be capable of analyzing major domestic policy developments and have the leadership skills to act as a team leader for some coverage.

Based in the Washington bureau, the reporter will cultivate and work sources at the White House, Capitol Hill and multiple federal agencies and will work closely with editors to shape domestic coverage plans. This is a high-visibility position that will require wide-ranging interests and the ability to quickly master new subjects, ranging from fiscal policy to immigration and gun control.

Applicants should have at least 10 years of experience with a major news organization; experience covering a wide range of domestic policy issues, including issues of a financial nature; a track record of building sources and breaking news; ability to conceive and execute smart story ideas; and strong writing skills, both in spot news and enterprise journalism.
