Tokyo workshop will allow students to be news assistants

Undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in working in journalism may attend a journalism training workshop on November 29 in Tokyo, Japan. Deadline: November 14.

Organized by the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan (FCCJ), the workshop will provide an introduction to journalism. Students will learn about interviewing, fact-gathering and writing techniques, as well as participate in a mock news event, including a mock press conference.

Participants may enter their names on a part-time student assistant list that will be made available to FCCJ journalists, who are interested in hiring a news assistant.

The all-day event is open to foreigners and will be conducted in English. There are 60 spots available. Registration costs 2,000 yen (about US$19.50), which includes lunch.
