TOL offers training in foreign correspondence, investigative journalism
Deadline:
The journalism training organization Transitions Online (TOL) will offer two practical training courses designed to enhance the skills of young journalists and journalism students, as well as journalists who want to break into investigative journalism or foreign reporting. Both courses will be taught in English in Prague, Czech Republic.
An Investigative Journalism course, from July 19 to July 24, will teach participants how to put together a piece of investigative journalism, use sources and build a publishable case. It will include a role-playing interview session where trainees have the chance to practice newly learned skills, as well as a review session to evaluate their own investigative ideas and proposals.
A Foreign Correspondent course, from July 26 to August 3, facilitated by foreign correspondents from established media outlets, will teach the essential skills of international reporting. Participants will be guided through the process of selecting, researching and filing a story from the streets of Prague.
Early bird deadline for both courses: March 31. Applicants before this date qualify for a special rate of EU€860 (US$1,103) for the Investigative Journalism course and EU€955 (US$1,225) for the Foreign Correspondent course. The respective full course fees of EU€970 (US$1,245) and EU€1,075 (US$1,380) apply after these dates.
