Training on environmental reporting open
Deadline:
Environmental journalists ages 18 to 35 can apply for a spot in one of these training sessions.
The European Youth Press (EYP) is accepting applications for “Flag it! – Using digital tools to map environmental issues,” which will be held May 20 - 26 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and July 1 - 7 in Lagos, Nigeria.
Applicants must be citizens or legal residents of Brazil, Philippines, Nigeria, Romania, Latvia and any countries in which EYP member organizations are based.
A total of 24 participants will be involved in sessions on data mining, data journalism, data visualization, mapping, crowdsourcing and geojournalism. After each training course, participants will be asked to use their newly acquired skills to develop their own stories. The reports will be published and spread through the project website and social networks. The four most effective reports will be selected and their authors will have the chance to cover the Conference of Parties (COP 19) in Poland in November 2013.
Training sessions will also be held in Manila, Philippines, in September, and Bucharest, Romania, in October.
The application deadline is March 15.
