UN environmental journalism award open [Africa]

African journalists ages 21 to 35 can apply for an environmental journalism award.

Organized by the United Nations Environment Program, the Young Environmental Journalist Award Africa will recognize a journalist who provided new insights, challenged established-thinking and greatly enhanced public understanding of the environment in Africa in 2011.

Candidates must be based in Africa working in local, regional or international media organizations in print, online, TV or radio outlets.

The winner will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the United States to travel cross-country working with leading journalists, scientists and public figures on environmental projects.

Applicants must submit one piece on an environmental issue in French or English. The deadline is December 16.
