The United Nations is seeking an Russian-language editor for its Department for General Assembly and Conference Management office in New York.

Job responsibilities include editing complex or politically sensitive material, normally without revision, to ensure accuracy, clarity and cohesion; producing the master copy of a text to be followed by a multilingual team of editors; acting as head of team, organizing its work, determining and enforcing deadlines and providing guidance to its members; and carrying out research to clarify ambiguities and rectify substantive errors.

Applicants should have a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in editing, including at least three years of experience in editing within the United Nations. Experience in on-screen editing is also required. The successful candidate should also have a perfect command of Russian, which must be the candidate's main language, and excellent knowledge of at least two other official languages (one of which should be English), as tested by the relevant United Nations Competitive Examination for Editors.
