WAN to support Chinese journalists on World Press Freedom Day
The World Association of Newspapers (WAN) is asking newspapers worldwide to show their support for press freedom in China by publishing editorials, advertisements, political cartoons and other materials on May 3, World Press Freedom Day.
WAN has dedicated its World Press Freedom Day initiative to "The Olympic Challenge: Free the Press in China!" WAN is providing materials, which newspapers can use without charge, in English, French, Spanish, German, Russian and Chinese. For full details, go to www.worldpressfreedomday.org.
More than 30 journalists and 50 cyber-dissidents are in Chinese prisons, making China the world’s biggest jailer of journalists.
For more information, go to www.worldpressfreedom.org, or contact Larry Kilman, WAN director of communications, at lkilman@wan.asso.fr.

As a member of
As a member of WAN i see it as big privilege and responsibility to use articles sent to me recently about China's poor human right records. I think it will be a right step in the right direction if other media can use theirs too. They should also feel free to request from WAN if they don't have these articles. We must continue to agitate for free press globally. Thanks
