Women’s organization to offer communication internships in Uganda
Deadline:
Eastern African women who have a bachelor’s degree in mass communication or other related arts and sciences areas are eligible to apply to a nine-month internship program, offered by the Eastern African Sub-regional Support Initiative for the Advancement of Women (EASSI). Deadline: February 13.
Running from April 1 to December 15, 2009, in Kampala, Uganda, the program aims to improve women’s skills in leadership, advocacy, writing, research, and Web site maintenance, among others. Interns are expected to produce a research report on an area of their choice linked to EASSI’s work.
The internship is open to women between the ages of 20 and 35 who are citizens of Burundi, Ethiopia, Rwanda, or Uganda. Fluency in English is a requirement. French and Kiswahili are desirable but not essential.
The program will select four participants, who will receive accomodation and a monthly stipend.
