Workshop for journalists covering intimate partner violence

Deadline:

9/26/11

Journalists interested in learning more about how to cover abuse within intimate relationships can apply for a workshop in New York City.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma (Dart Center) will host a first-of-its-kind workshop for journalists interested in intimate partner violence (IPV), an often stigmatized and hidden issue that affects nearly 5 million women and 3 million men each year in the United States.

Journalists, editors, news directors, researchers, photographers, bloggers, freelancers and producers of national, regional and local news are eligible to apply.

The workshop will feature a wide range of national and local mental health and policy experts, award-winning journalists, educators and prevention advocates. It will include background briefings as well as specialized reporting skills training to enhance journalists’ capacity to report on relationship violence knowledgeably, ethically and effectively.

The application deadline is Monday, September 26, 2011.
