Workshop on scientific journalism open [US, Caribbean]

Hispanic journalists based in the Caribbean and United States can apply to participate in a workshop.

The U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI) presents Cancer Research in the Media: International Workshop for Scientific Journalism, which will be held at the Verdanza Hotel in Isla Verde, San Juan, Puerto Rico February19 - 20.

Participants will learn the complexities of reporting on health and science topics, addressing the challenges that journalists experience and improving their ability to share accurate cancer-related information with the public.

Those who are accepted to the program will be required to submit a brief description of the top three challenges they feel journalists face when reporting on cancer or health news. They must also agree to send work samples they write or produce after completing the workshop.

All meals and lodging are provided (lodging will be provided only for participants who do not reside in Puerto Rico). Travel costs will also be covered by the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus.

The deadline to apply is December 7.
