Year-long fellowships will focus on mental health reporting

Deadline:

4/18/10
Location:

Journalists from across the world can apply for the Rosalynn Carter Fellowship for Mental Health in Journalism, which provides stipends to journalists to report on topics related to mental health or mental illnesses.

Journalists must have at least three years experience in any news medium. Topics are flexible; past fellows have studied topics including demographic analysis of mental health maladies and services affiliated with the treatment of mental health conditions.

Fellows are provided flexibility in scheduling their project work throughout the year. They make two expense-paid visits to The Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia, in the U.S.

The fellowship year will begin in September 2011.

The Fellowship too wonderful. Why not eligible to the fellowship other than South Africa and Romania? We all journalists should be eligible for the course.because many countries affected by mental health problems. Hopefully the Rosalynn Carter will revise the eligibility criteria and THE COURSE to open the journalist to around the world. Neway Tsegaye,Addis Ababa,Ethiopia

Good Case to work on

This would be a good chance for me to have a closer look at how to deal with Mental illness cases in Uganda. In many parts of the country, people with mental illness are shunned by the society, therefore this could offer a new dimension on how to deal with such cases. I confirm my interest in the fellowship. fradzy@hotmail.com Ezaruku Draku Franklin
