A course for journalists from Caribbean and Central American countries will concentrate on the challenges and techniques involved in covering international-scale crises.

Journalists from Caribbean and Central American countries can attend a course on covering disasters. The course will take place in Miami, Florida from January 17 to 21, 2011. The deadline is December 10.

Journalists interested in crisis reporting can apply for a US$7,500 travel grant. Applicants must be non-U.S. journalists. The deadline is February 1.

The Persephone Miel Fellowship is sponsored by the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting. It will fund a reporting project that focuses on a global crisis under-reported in the mainstream American media.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl tragedy, Russian journalists can submit broadcast, print or online works on the theme to a competition. Deadline: December 17.
