A 12-week international broadcast course in the Netherlands on "Sports & Society" has places available for self-paying and sponsored candidates. The course will run from January 31 to April 22. Deadline: January 15.

Spanish-speaking journalists can enroll in a variety of online courses offered by Escuela Argentina de Comunicación. Registration is ongoing.

The courses will cover a variety of themes including sports education, cultural journalism, interview techniques and editorial writing. Every 15 days, students can participate in an online chat with an instructor.

Three new courses for South African journalists are being offered in October at the Institute for the Advancement of Journalism in Johannesburg.

The first course, “How to be an Effective Freelancer,” will help journalists break into the business, and will provide information on networking, finding a niche and negotiating rates. Dates: October 6 and 7.

Mid-career radio, television and online journalists from around the world can apply for a broadcast course on sports and society. The course will be held over a 12-week period in Hilversum, Netherlands from January 31 to April 22, 2011. Deadline: September 1.
