Full-time professional journalists in Southeast Asia can apply for a five-day course on reporting crises and disasters, to take place in Hanoi, Vietnam. Deadline: October 18.

The course will take place November 1 to 5. It will consist of briefings and practical writing exercises that address the concerns, challenges, and techniques involved in reporting on international crises.

Journalists in Latin America are invited to register for a course in Zulia, Venezuela on covering emergency and natural disasters. Registration is ongoing.

Topics to be discussed include information management, psychology for disaster coverage and post-traumatic stress related to emergency and disasters.

Colombian journalists and students are invited to apply for a journalism prize on risk prevention. Registration is ongoing.

Works must have been published or broadcast in any type of media between June 1, 2009 and May 17, 2010.

Print, online, broadcast and photo journalists from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tadjikistan,Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are invited to apply for a competition being sponsored by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Deadline: June 30.
