  • Voice of Vietnam gets in-house training

    Journalists at the government-run Voice of Vietnam (VOV) will get some additional training in February, courtesy of Sweden.

    The Swedish government is sponsoring in-house training on production and management, scheduled for February 13 to 24 in Hanoi. The Sweden-based Institute for Further Education of Journalists (FOJO) is organizing the course with support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).

  • Palestinian women attend journalism training in Paris

    Paris was the location for a recent two-week training program that gathered 12 Palestinian women to improve their journalism and management skills.

    UNESCO sponsored the training as part of its International Program for Development of Communication (IPDC). The Al-Jazeera Training and Development Center conducted the course.

  • Middle East publishers to meet again in March

    Newspaper and magazine publishers across the Middle East region are among those invited to a conference scheduled for March 5 and 6 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

    The second Middle East Publishing Conference (MEPC) also will include media researchers, advertisers, and others connected to the publishing industry. The Dubai Consultancy, Research and Media Center (DCRMC) organizes the event.

    A workshop on disaster management – scheduled for December 15 in General Santos City, Philippines – emphasizes the important role of media in disaster preparedness and management.

    The Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) is organizing the training in coordination with the state-run Philippine Information Agency (PIA).

    Two January media events in Botswana are part of an effort to publicize an international campaign to improve employment conditions in Southern Africa. Journalists have until December 14 to register for the events, organized by the International Labor Organization (ILO).

  • Asian radio managers get training in Malaysia

    A training course on radio management, targeted at Asian and Pacific station managers, is scheduled for December 19 to 23 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

    German public broadcaster service Deutsche Welle is organizing this training course in collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD). The institute is nominating 12 participants from state-owned and private stations throughout the region.

  • Conference gathers Arab broadcasters in Beirut

    A conference that will gather Arab broadcasters together to discuss industry concerns and learn about new technology is scheduled for December 8 to 10 in Lebanon.

    Middle East Broadcasters (MEB) is organizing the MEB 2005 Conference, with support from ArabSat and Selevision. The gathering will take place at the Beirut International Exhibition and Leisure Center.
